What are the symptoms and side effects of life?
Tapping helps to eliminate those patterns of unhelpful behaviour that show up in your life. Even when you don’t know where they are coming from or what has caused them.
These are the things you struggle with in the here and now on a daily or ongoing basis. Large or small, they impact our home and work lives. They affect our relationships, jobs and careers. They limit our aspirations, impinge on our standard of living and even our ability to function.
Examples of unhelpful behaviour

- Confidence – Low Self Esteem/Social Anxiety/Shyness
- Obsessive – Compulsive Disorders/Perfectionism/Control

- Financial issues
Why is unhelpful behaviour so difficult to deal with?
Whilst all of these seem to be, and are, issues in themselves – they are often expressions of deeper issues. And usually a combination of things we have experienced in the past can be contributing to them.
The presence of unhelpful behaviours in our lives is an indication that at some point we needed that behaviour to make us feel safer, protected, or more comfortable in ourselves.
The behaviour becomes unhelpful when it is no longer serving that purpose. But it is difficult to un-progamme behaviours from a conscious level.
Tapping helps to reduce the immediate impact of unhelpful patterns of behaviour. And also the emotions and feelings around these symptoms. It is known to reduce cortisol levels in our bodies.
We tap on the meridian or acupressure points of the face and hands whilst talking about the issue. This allows us to identify and address the root cause once and for all.
Often what you believed was causing a particular issue turns out to be something else completely. That is when the magic of tapping happens and you have that profound Aha! moment.
Tapping interrupts the way in which the brain and the subconscious interprets a situation and allows for re-framing. It literally allows the mind to file a memory, feeling or emotion into a file labelled safe instead of dangerous or uncomfortable. And this means that we no longer need the unhelpful behaviour to distract or protect us.
